Piano Restoration and Reconditioning Information

When it comes to Restoration or Reconditioning, all work is carried out in-situ on our own premises. Work such as Re-polishing, Frames refinished, Soundboard
and Bridge Repairs, New Strings, Tuning Pins, any Action or Damper Repairs, Tuning & Regulating are all undertaken at our workshop & polishing shop.
This makes it possible for ourselves and the customer to monitor the progress of all work undertaken, this also helps keeps all costs to a minimum.

Full Reconditioning

A Full Recondition means the only things that are NOT replaced is the Body of the Piano, Soundboard and the Key bed components.

Refurbish Frame:
Remove from body of Piano after removal of the Strings etc.. Strip and Re-polish Frame in Gold Lacquer then place back in Piano once the Soundboard has been refurbished.

Soundboard:
Repair any Splits or Damage, remove old Varnish then Re-Lacquer the Soundboard and Re-Lead the Bridges ready for the New Strings, if required Replace the Soundboard.

Full Restring:
Measure the bass and treble strings, then Remove all the Strings. Replace Wrestplank if Required, once the Frame and Soundboard have been repaired and refurbished Fit New Treble & Bass Strings along with New Tuning pins.

Refurbish Action:
Recover or Renew the Hammers, Replace all the Leathers, Bushings, Springs, Felts and fit New Damper felts.

Keyboard:
Recover White Key tops and fit new Black Key tops. If the Keys are Ivories and they can be saved, Restore them using ORIGINAL period replacement Ivory Tops.

Cabinet:
Repair any broken parts then Strip, sand and re-polish the piano in one of the Various finishes and colours available.

 

Basic Reconditioning

If some of the Original Parts are in Good order there is no need to replace them therefore saving
costs but if one has gone you generally need to replace them all i.e.: Springs & Leathers.

Frame:
Remove from body of Piano, Strip and Re-polish Frame in Gold Lacquer
(only if required) then place back in Piano once the Soundboard has been restored.

Soundboard:
Repair any Splits or Damage, remove old Varnish then Re-Lacquer the Soundboard and Re-Lead the Bridges ready for the New Strings.

Strings:

Restoration

Restoration is Suitable for a large Majority of Pianos as long as the Pianos have been Looked after during their Lifetime.

Frame:
Valet the Frame.

Soundboard:
Valet the Soundboard.

Strings:
Clean the Strings Replace any Broken or Dead sounding Bass Strings.

Action:
Reshape Hammers, Repair or replace any broken parts, Fit New Dampers felts
(only if required).

Keyboard:
Buff/Clean White and Black Key tops replace any chipped ones or Recover White keys
(only if Required). If the Keys are Ivories and they can be saved Restore them using ORIGINAL period replacement Ivory Tops.

Cabinet:
Repair any broken parts then Strip, sand and re-polish the piano in one of the Various finishes and colours available.

Grand's: RESTORATION Prices from approx £1750.00 - £2750.00 re-polished in a Satin finish.

Upright's: BASIC RECONDITIONING Prices from approx £3250.00 - £4000.00 re-polished in a Satin finish.

Grand's: BASIC RECONDITIONING Prices from approx £3250.00 - £4300.00 re-polished in a Satin finish.

Upright's: FULL RECONDITIONING Prices from approx £4500.00 - £8000.00+ re-polished in Various finishes.

Grand's: FULL RECONDITIONING Prices from approx £4700.00 - £8000.00+ re-polished in Various finishes.
